PERSONAL STORIES

This section of the J-TUT web site will present the personal experiences of men who have dealt with, or are currently dealing with prostate cancer.  Experience is one of our best teachers.  Men who have prostate cancer have had a variety of experiences; some good,  some bad.  We plan to include those that have the most valuable lessons for the greatest number.  The common lesson that will run through all our selected stories is that: EACH MAN MUST TAKE CONTROL OF HIS OWN DESTINY!

We hire the doctors whom we believe have the knowledge to work with us in either eliminating the disease, or altering its course to allow us to live longer, more comfortable lives.  How well we succeed is often an indication of how quickly we understood the disease and how quickly we took control of our own destiny.

Some of these stories resulted from failures of chosen therapies.  Others will  illustrate successes.  What's important in all these stories are the lessons to be learned.  "Dog  Bites Man" never makes the news.  "Man Bites Dog" becomes the leadoff story.  Often there are more valuable lessons to be learned from failures than from successes.  We choose a therapy or a course of action that we believe will cure our cancer.  If it doesn't, we must ask why.  Prostate cancer can be treacherous and diagnostic procedures as they exist today can and do sometimes miss tumors.  The several available treatment options also, all have their share of side effects.

It is the intention of this page to publish the full range of experiences that men have in dealing with their prostate cancer.  Through education and awareness more men should be able to successfully weave their way through the thickets of prostate cancer decisions.
